Kambo VIP Information

Everything you need to know before you begin your healing journey!

What is Kambo?

Kambo, often referred to as the "frog medicine," is a traditional healing ritual originating from the Amazon rainforest, particularly among the indigenous tribes of South America. Derived from the secretions of the Phyllomedusa bicolor frog, Kambo is known for its powerful healing properties that is loaded with bioactive poly and neuropeptides.  Kambo is used in ceremonial settings to address physical, emotional, and spiritual imbalances.

In a Kambo ceremony, a small amount of the frog's secretion is applied to small burns known as gateways on the participant's skin. This process, known as "dotting," allows the bioactive peptides in the secretion to enter the bloodstream, initiating a cleansing and purgative effect on the body.

The experience of a Kambo ceremony can be intense, but is more often described as transformative. Participants may feel a range of sensations, including warmth, tingling, and increased heart rate, followed by purging process that can range from tears, oral purge, bowel movements, sweating and other methods often used by the body's natural excretory system. Despite the initial discomfort, most report a sense of heightened clarity, emotional release, and an overall feeling of renewal after the ceremony.

The potential benefits of receiving Kambo include physical detoxification, increased energy, improved mental focus, and enhanced emotional well-being. It is believed to strengthen the immune system, reduce inflammation, and help with various health conditions.

Kambo VIP ceremonies are conducted in private sessions and in group ceremonies and retreats that often incorporate other healing modalities to ensure you leave feeling revitalized. Additionally, individuals facing chronic health conditions have the opportunity to undergo training to self-administer Kambo, allowing them to incorporate the practice into their ongoing wellness routine.

Before considering a Kambo ceremony, it is crucial to consult with a qualified and experienced practitioner to ensure that it is a suitable and safe option for your specific needs and circumstances. The ritual is deeply rooted in respect for the traditional knowledge associated with Kambo, and its application should be approached with reverence and care.

*Do not eat or drink anything (including water) for 12 hours before ceremony - You MUST be sober from recreational drugs, most vitamins and minerals and alcohol for a minimum of 72 hours prior to ceremony*

The Day Of Ceremony

• Fast from food and liquids – no water, coffee, or tea for 12 hours prior to ceremony
• Bring 1-2 limes - PLEASE DO NOT FORGET
• Arrive sober and free of prescriptions or medicines, recreational drugs, vitamins, minerals and supplements, as per recommendations discussed with you during your consultation call
• Prepare Your Intentions – this helps guide and direct your healing experience with Kambo
• Bring a change of clothes – accidents happen
• Wear loose layers to accommodate fluctuating temperatures with shorts in case we need to access lower extremity gateways

It is good practice to know why you are participating in a healing circle. Knowing what it is you wish to purge and cleanse from your body allows for a deeper cleanse and helps you focus on your own healing versus what is happening around you during a ceremony. You can have them written down or memorized and you are welcome to share them or keep them private. Your intentions help guide the facilitator to tailor make your experience specifically for you. We work with Chakras and Meridians and your intention helps guide us to which method we will utilize and what gateways we will access.

During Ceremony

Meditating and focusing on your breath is a technique used during a Kambo ceremony. Breathe and invite the spirit of the medicine into you, exhale and surrender your ego, your thoughts, your expectations, and the toxicity your body may be holding. Breathe in and soften to the medicine, breathe out and let go of control. It is important to remember that we each go through our processes differently and we must allow space for others to cry, to purge and to release while we ourselves maintain our own healing by focusing on our own process and to not become distracted by what may or may not be going on around you. We will be there to assist you through your process, but it is you who must do the work for lasting results.

After Ceremony

Ideally, you will want to take time to integrate your experience with Kambo and our recommendation is at least one month, but please know that the medicine can continue working on you for up to one year. Take as much time as your soul and journey require. If you have sat with other sacred medicines, please know there is a waiting period before it is safe to serve you. Your healing session comes with a 30 minute post ceremony integration session included in the exchange. Typically, we schedule this call around 2-4 weeks after ceremony, but if you feel like you need the session or support sooner, please feel free to reach out and arrange the session.

How is Kambo Administered?

Kambo is applied to superficial burns on the skin. Kambo is then prepared and applied onto the burn location and thus absorbed directly into the lymphatic system. These burns typically leave permanent scaring. If you are adverse to visible locations, we will work with a location you feel comfortable with.

What to Expect During Your Kambo Experience?

Kambo is considered an ‘ordeal’ medicine. This means that your experience within the Kambo treatment will most likely be one of purification and may not be easy. Kambo has a cleansing and purgative effect so you can expect to feel nauseous, to have an oral purge and possibly have a bottom evacuation for a few hours as your body and spirit are being cleared.

Once the Kambo is applied to the skin, a feeling of warmth immediately follows. The face, skin and core of the body will feel a heat within. The heart will beat slightly faster and ‘bigger’ as the medicine begins working. Blood pressure will fall slightly. Relax into the experience. It is helpful to work with the breath: Inhale and receive the medicine with love and trust, exhale and surrender. I

t is a common experience that the throat will gently swell. This is normal. It will not swell shut. The face may also swell. Simply relax into the sensations and allow the ally of the Kambo spirit to purify and fortify you. After a few minutes or more, you may feel like you have to purge. You will have a bucket handy and you will purge into the bucket. You may also need to go to the bathroom. Please know that if you need to go to use the restroom you will be assisted to do so and someone will stay with you while you release.

After 10-15 minutes, the Kambo dots will be removed from your body and the major part of your cleanse is over, but can continue for an additional 10-15 minutes. The time spent in the peak of the cleansing and purgative process can be as short as 10 minutes and as long as a couple of hours. Please allow an additional 2 hours for rest post ceremony before driving or attending any appointments.
